Dear friend of suffering animals.

Would you do me a favor?

I am initiating another large-scale anti-dog meat campaign because the
Korean government has once again clearly shown their intention to legalize
dog meat again in April 2008. Please visit the KAPS English website
(www.koreananimals.net) and help KAPS in protesting against our government.

The mayor of Seoul, Oh Se Hun, is the one who openly proposed a policy to
classify dog meat as livestock products - nothing short of legalizing dog
meat -, so we are sending petition letters to him first. You can find an
article I wrote the mayor of Seoul on our website.
It would be very helpful for you to read the article in order to understand
more about the dog meat issue.
The Korean government does not pay attention to the opinion of Koreans but
gives more weight to the protests from overseas. I am trying to give this
matter as much publicity as possible all over the world as well as within
our country.

Please help KAPS in our fight against the legalization of dog meat.

Why should the Korean government ignore a policy that brings so many
positive changes?

I would like to request that Seoul's mayor, Oh Se Hun, reverse his policy
decision to legalize the dog meat industry.
A policy like this simply to bring better hygiene standards is unlikely to
work. Worst of all, it will not stop the cruelty and shame of the dog meat
industry, nor the bad image this industry gives to Korea around the world.

Instead, I ask for legislation that completely bans the slaughter of dogs
and cats for food or medicine and prohibits the consumption of dog and cat
meat.

There will be so many positive changes when Korea prohibits dog and cat
consumption.

1. No more unhygienic and disgusting food.

2. No more cruel slaughter of dogs and cats.

3. No more pollution of the environment from the dog meat trade.

4. Less geriatric disease because of false medicinal claims.

5. Korean children will learn the value of loving animals.

6. Korea will become a more compassionate and thoughtful society.

7. Korea will no longer be viewed as a country of animal abusers.

8. Korea will gain more respect from the international community.

9. Korean people will be seen as modern and progressive in their thinking.

10. Korea can start to become a leader in Asia in terms of animal protection
and care.

11. Progressive young Koreans will begin to show support for the government.

12. Korea's future generations will benefit from Korea's better image
worldwide.

What will be the result if the Korean government goes ahead with the dog
meat policy?

1. It will bring criticism against the Korean government from around the
world.

2. It will make Korea seem like is it encouraging the slaughter and eating
of dogs.

3. It will break the hearts of people who love dogs as loyal, giving and
trusting animals.

4. It will encourage greater consumption of dog and cat meat, creating more
misery for animals.

5. It will worsen Korea's already tainted and poor image overseas.

6. It will lead to more people in other countries choosing to boycott Korean
products.

7. It will spread geriatric disease due to fraudulent health myths.

8. It will require a larger cost to the government than simply banning the
industry.

9. It will embarrass the government because it is ill-prepared to met the
challenges involved.

10. It will only please a minority of dog eaters and illegal dog meat
traders, not most Koreans.

I request that Mayor Oh Se Hun reverse his decision
